Ryan,
The images in the header are some I took a year ago when visiting St. Paul for a day. Closest thing I have to the Minneapolis area on hand. There are 8 images and they rotate. I can put any image in the header you want included.
This theme came with two sidebars. I modified it to have a third sidebar that sits on top of of the other two. I like to have an area where I can put videos or content that is larger than will fit in a smaller sidebar. This area is widgetized as well as the other sidebar sections.
I’ve put a small text widget in each sidebar for now to identify them for you. You can move any widget you want into those sidebars.
I’ve edited this first post and put in a snippet in the Top sidebar. Also known as the Center Sidebar. You can read about it at the Lab here: The My Snippet Plugin
If you open this post in the editor you can see the Snippet post settings area right below the edit window.
I made a few changes to the colors in the theme: The border around the sidebars, the color around the search.
This theme has a lot going for it. I like the CSS and the way the author took the time to integrate Image and Caption handling. It seems clean and others using it say it has been great for their sites and SEO.
I’m going to play with this theme more in the future. Again any changes you want to make to it let me know. I think it is a pretty straight forward theme to modify.
You probably know I’m an image geek, I’ve added the floatbox-plus plugin as well. Click on any image and it will enlarge on screen. This is one plugin you don’t ever want to update. The main code used for this is now commercial and has to be paid for use if you upgrade. But this old “free” versions works great.
That about covers this first post and setup. Have fun.
